Definitions

For our purposes, the following definitions are employed:

Voyeurism

Traditionally, the term “Voyeurism” is defined as the act of watching people have sex or watching people in various stages of undress without their knowledge. Today, however, there is a more common use of the word which simply refers to the act of watching other people in a public or private setting.

All Voyeurs derive some kind of pleasure from their observations - ranging from sexual to the simple satisfaction of curiosity.

The Voyeur normally observes other people using clandestine means where the threat or chance of getting caught increases their enjoyment. But a person peeping though the curtains at another person on the other side of the street without the use of a camera or video is just as voyeuristic as paparazzi taking pictures at a nude beach.

Exhibitionism

Exhibitionism is a sexually inspired pattern of behavior where a person will exhibit naked parts of their body to another person which would otherwise be covered. Exhibitionists show themselves to inflate their ego and may experience sexual gratification from their exposure while they tempt and stimulate the sexual arousal of their audience.

Exhibitionism need not be sexual in nature nor include nakedness. An exhibitionist is someone that overtly presents themselves as objects of desire. In these cases, the subject of our attention has normally spent much time in their presentation, such as choosing the right clothes, shoes and other accessories while paying close attention to hair, makeup, perfume, etc. The subject went to a lot of trouble just to turn heads and be noticed.

Social Nudity

Social nudity includes nudism and naturism. Nudists and naturists engage in a variety of activities while unclothed such as nude sunbathing, swimming at nude beaches, bicycling, and trekking among other public activities. Nudist and naturist purport that social nudity is non-sexual and not exhibitionism since the exposure is not connected with sexual gratification or expression.
